Donegal Garden Trail

Is there anything more relaxing than a day spent strolling around a beautiful garden?

If like me you love nothing more that sitting under a beautiful old tree with the cool grass between your toes or listening to the sounds of nature and the leaves blowing in the wind.

Then this summer why not enjoy the wonderful gardens of Co Donegal.

The Donegal Garden Trail takes place between spring and autumn and is a truly magical experience for all.

A little about the Donegal Garden Trail

The gardeners of the 2018 Garden Trail warmly welcome you to County Donegal

Welcome to the 12th edition of the Donegal Garden Trail guide. We are delighted to introduce for the first time “Cranny Garden” near Inver (garden number 12).

We would like to thank Donegal Tourism, all of our valued partner Hotels and Garden Centres for their continued support. Special thanks to Kee’s Hotel of Ballybofey/Stranorlar who hosted the launch of the 2018 Trail.

Our Trail, which winds its colourful way around the County, offers garden lovers many opportunities to access and enjoy a broad range of both private and publicly owned gardens. All are lovingly tended and boast wide-ranging examples of traditional and innovative garden displays. Many combine nurture with nature, actively encouraging habitats for native flora and fauna.

Open days and times are listed with each garden but many owners are happy to open outside of these times, but please do phone ahead to make sure, giving as much notice as possible.

Check out our Facebook page ‘Donegal Garden Trail for regularly up-dates and photos of what is looking particularly good at any given time. Indeed, some of our gardens now have their own individual Facebook page and these can be easily identified with an ‘f ’ on the garden list beside the map.

We ask that you take care as you walk through our gardens as terrain may be uneven so sturdy footwear should be worn. Also an umbrella and wellies at the ready may come in handy! Children are most welcome but should be carefully supervised at all times due to streams, rivers or ponds.
